| Bio: | This is the IC journal for the character of Amber in the LJ 'Tribe' RPG, the_mall. If you think this is possibly a real journal, then I hate to disappoint but alas it is not. I do not claim to be Amber or Beth Allen for that matter, even though she is a fabby bird. All characters involved in this journal are the property of Cloud 9 (New Zealand) and Five (United Kingdom), and I promise I'm not trying to steal them in order to make money or hack big television companies off. Pre-virus Amber Amber, the younger of two sisters, grew up in the suburb of Bellview heights; an area renowned for having everything you could possibly want. Amber had an extremely happy childhood, she had all the toys and gadgets she could ever want, she had a fantastic relationship with her elder sister Solaris and she had an amazing best friend called Dal. Amber and her sister had lived at home with their parents, until the death of their mother, Dianne. Their father Jim after grieving for his wife married again, in fact marrying Lucy, the woman who had nursed his former wife in her final couple of years. It was to be expected that Amber and her family would have a strong bond with Lucy, but neither herself nor Solaris expected their father to remarry so soon. Solaris took the news especially bad, and chose to move into the flat above their garage, feeling unable to live under the same roof as Lucy. As much as Solaris had got on with Lucy, she did not like the idea of her mother being replaced. Amber on the other hand remembered something her mother once told her, that life was for the living, and accepted Lucy into her life, figuring that she was going to be there no matter how Amber felt, and she may as well make an effort to get along with Lucy. When the virus broke out, Amber and her friend Dal kept a close watch on the news and the newspapers, wanting to find out as much as they could. While all her neighbours were shocked when she virus eventually arrived in Bellview heights, Amber and Dal had been expecting it to happen for weeks. With Dal’s father being a doctor, they had heard several stories of virus patients in the hospital where Dal’s father worked, and they knew exactly what to expect. A month after the virus broke out in Bellview Heights Solaris went south to be a nursing assistant. Amber never asked if it was to nurse virus victims, she didn’t want to know. Solaris was too close to being old enough to catch the virus, and Amber didn’t even want to contemplate the idea of her catching it. Amber never heard from Solaris after she left. Once the virus caught hold of Amber’s neighbourhood everything began to change. People ran in the vein hope of avoiding the virus altogether, houses were raided as they were left abandoned. Bellview Heights was no longer the exclusive place it had once been. Dal and Amber spent their time together, figuring out what they would do, especially as Dal’s parents were among the first to be taken by the virus. Amber knew that Dal would need support and vowed to stand by her closest friend. Amber’s parents were among those who decided to run from the virus, but before they had a chance, Lucy was stuck down with it, and passed away. Not too long after that Amber’s father died. Amber and Dal came to a decision, they would head to the countryside where surely, there would be fewer gangs, and the chance to be self-sufficient and grow their own food. They would be safer in the countryside, of that Amber and Dal felt certain. | |
